BWFCST Board Election Update from the Election Management Group

BWFCST Board Election Update from the Election Management Group

Registration Deadline Imminent

Further to our update of 09 June ’16 when we announced that the deadline for registering as a BWFCST member to take part in voting in the forthcoming election had been extended until 27 June 2016, we would remind all those who wish to register as members that the deadline is now 7 days away.

The registration deadline for members to stand as candidates for election remains at 30 May 2016, therefore any members registering between now and 27 June 2016 will be eligible to vote but not stand for a board position.

This extension has been negotiated with Election Reform Services in order to allow those supporters joining the Trust since the expiration of the original deadline an opportunity to vote in the election.

Important Documents

For those members wishing to stand for election, the BWFCST 2016 Board Nomination Form is available on the website and the form can be viewed and downloaded here.

Election Timeline

The election timeline is shown below. Any member who wishes to put themselves forward for election will be required to forward a completed Candidate Nomination Form as referenced above. This form will need to be forwarded to Electoral Reform Services, The Election Centre, 33 Clarendon Road, London N8 0NW, to be received before 5.00pm on Monday 04 July 2016.

The election timeline is as follows:

30 May ’16 - Registration closed for members to stand as a candidate in the elections
06 June ’16 - Open nominations
27 June ’16 - Registration closes for members to vote in the elections
04 July ’16 - Close nominations
18 July ’16 - Issue ballot packs and open voting
15 Aug ’16 - Voting closes
22 Aug ’16 - AGM and results announced

Constitution of the BWFCST Board

There will be 9 elected positions available in the inaugural BWFCST Board. The top 9 polling candidates will form the first Board and will select, from amongst their number, the most appropriate candidates to fill the 3 officer positions of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

The other 6 candidates will be allocated board responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:

Finance & Investments
Public Relations, Media & Marketing
IT, Administration & Memberships
Community Engagement
Events & Fundraising
Supporter Liaison

The Board Nomination Form contains guidance notes regarding the eligibility of members to stand for election. Specific attention is drawn to clause 5.9 of the Election Policy which refers to the requirements of any elected board member to submit a signed Board Membership and Conduct Policy prior to taking his/her place on the Board.

Key skills and tasks relating to Board Member positions are referenced in more detail in the Board Membership and Conduct Policy.

Both the Election Policy and the Board Membership and Conduct Policy documents can be viewed here.

Further updates will be given during the above election process as necessary by the Election Management Group and Electoral Reform Services (www.electoralreform.co.uk).
