Reflections On Relegation

Reflections On Relegation

Saturday 9th April 2016... a sad day in the history of our beloved BWFC, after relegation was confirmed as a result of our 4-1 loss at Derby County. So, Sky Bet League 1 it is then.

Life in League 1 can only add to the current financial pressures facing the club and there are undoubtedly some massive challenges ahead. 3rd tier football for the first time in over 20 years must be tackled head on and faced with steel and determination from all associated with the club.

That includes the owners, players, staff and fans. We are all in this together and face the start of a new era for BWFC. However, for the first time in the club’s history, these challenges are being faced with a Supporters’ Trust in existence.

Match Day Matters

With at least a £4m drop in Football League distributions to factor in, it is now vital that supporters keep coming to games. With this in mind, the BWFCST would urge the club to look at ways of increasing the match day attendances through incentives with season ticket pricing and concessionary pricing of tickets for young fans, families and retired persons.

Essential Links

In addition, the links between the club, the supporters and the Bolton community need strengthening to provide the sustainable basis for turning things around, both on and off the field. We all have our part to play in the battle ahead and we specifically need the input of the community, educational and business institutions. On behalf of the supporters, the BWFCST will use our best endeavours to foster these relationships and to play whatever part we can in helping to provide a stable foundation for our club.

Looking Ahead

We are all in this together and we need to pull in the same direction to ensure the decline in fortunes is stopped and then turned around as quickly as possible. With this in mind, the BWFCST will be looking to meet as soon as possible with the club’s owners to commence the dialogue that will be essential in ensuring the future of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
